Over the years, CIMA+ has forged a solid reputation in the areas of plant engineering, in particular for its partnership approach, which to a certain degree, provides a sort of “extension” to the clients' in-house engineering.

 

In fact, our teams complete a multitude of projects in harmony with daily practices already in effect in these plants. As a result, the designs are optimised, and perfectly integrated with systems in place, such as the management of replacement parts or scheduling plant shutdowns.

Engineering partnership

Domtar, Windsor

Since 1997, CIMA+ has been involved on an annual basis in significant capitalisation projects for Domtar, totalling between $10 and 20 million.

 

To ensure the success of these projects, CIMA+ assigned a specially trained team, familiar with all internal procedures in place at Domtar. This team was assisted by the regular services staff at the Sherbrooke branch, representing over 100 people distributed amongst the civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering departments. This enhanced the availability of the specialists required and allowed us to absorb workload fluctuations.

Reconfiguration - Blower controls

Domtar, Windsor

CIMA+ was asked to reconfigure the control equipment for the air blowers at the plant lagoons. These blowers are used to activate the microbial action needed to process the waste water at the plant. The project allowed us to simplify the controls by making them compliant with plant standards and by better documenting them. The reliability of the installation was improved.

Eastmain 1 power plant

Société d'énergie de la Baie-James (SEBJ)

This power plant is located on the left bank of the Eastmain River. It consists of three generating units with installed power of 480 MW.

 

For the construction of this power plant, the SEBJ awarded the contractor, HMI Construction Inc., a turn-key installation contract for supply and installation of the auxiliary, mechanical and electrical equipment. CIMA+ provided HMI with all of the engineering services required to accomplish this project. All auxiliary services at this power plant were designed by CIMA+.
