Modernization of the telecommunications network
Énergie électrique, Alcan Primary Metal division
This modernization project primarily consisted of implementing a new telecommunications network using SONET technology to link all Énergie électrique sites in the greater Saguenay - Lac-Saint-Jean region. Twenty-three sites scattered over about 1,000 km² were connected.
CIMA+ participated in the concept study and was consulted on all technology decisions, including analysis of the communication network needs and review of the technological parameters of the various equipment suppliers.
Our specialists developed all construction plans and technical specifications needed to execute different phases of the project. The design team also drafted a Request for Proposal document outlining the goals of the network modernization, services required and scope.

Peribonka Hydroelectric Facility: Telephone and transmission network
Hydro-Québec
The project's purpose was to meet the telecommunication needs of the brand new Peribonka Hydroelectric complex. This huge facility includes a power plant, water intake, spillway, station, as well as a utility building; each of these buildings has different, specific needs for telephone, computer and warning systems. The services needed to be connected to the entire Hydro-Québec telecommunications network with optical and radio links.
In this project, the CIMA+ telecommunications team handled detailed engineering at the Peribonka Hydroelectric Facility, and provided technical support during construction.

C.A.R.S. Project: Fiber optic network
Bell Canada, Cogeco, Videotron and Alcan partnership
This project, which was carried out in partnership with Bell Canada, Cogeco, Videotron and Alcan, involved setting up a fiber optic network between Chicoutimi, Alma, Roberval and Saint-Félicien (C.A.R.S.). The network currently covers more than 350 km and connects more than 100 buildings.
The project required maintaining communication among all partners during design and construction stages.

Modernization of the telecommunications network in the Manicouagan Region
(The Manicouagan Region contains several major hydro-power dams and hydroelectricity facilities that provide power to domestic, commercial and industrial users throughout the Province of Quebec) Hydro-Québec
In order to upgrade the telecommunications network between the Lévis-Telecommunications sites and the Manic Station which passes through the Bergeronnes Station, Hydro-Québec intended to implement the digitization of the optical and microwave links between the various sites on the path identified, as well as to install a new optical link between Rimouski-Telecommunications and Rimouski-Service Centre.
This project involved detailed engineering for the upgrade of the microwave links apparatus for 24 sites on Hydro-Québec's territory.

Analysis: Redundant transmission links
Cogeco Cable Québec Inc.
Cogeco Cable Québec Inc. wished to add redundant transmission links in seven sectors in its territory to upgrade its transmission network. In this context, the project awarded to CIMA+ involved developing a pre-engineering report to study the technical possibilities and costs associated with setting up high-capacity transmission links for new diversity routes, with the links to be created using fiber optic or microwave links.

Statement of scope, detailed engineering, plans and specifications for telephone, IT and warning system distribution at the La Sarcelle Station
Hydro-Québec
In order to implement telephone, IT and warning systems at La Sarcelle Station, Hydro-Québec initially wished to have installation of these systems at the station validated through a statement of scope, which was also to cover aspects associated with cables dedicated to facility security.
Subsequently, the CIMA+ Telecommunications team conducted all of the detailed engineering for the project.
