Project Management

Project control

First, CIMA+'s specialists define and set up the work breakdown structure. This phase acts as the foundation for drawing up a schedule and core budget for the project. The information obtained during execution can be compared to this reference for the purpose of deriving performance indicators that will help effectively monitor and control the project.

The project follow-up and control cycle is triggered once authorization to launch the work is received, and the project's scope has been thoroughly defined. Follow-up and control cover all content, quality, schedule and budget parameters. Performed regularly and thoroughly, these activities provide a timely, dynamic snapshot of the project's progress. Here are the follow-up and control steps our teams take in the context of the computerized project management system:

  • collection of relevant data on the progress of the project as a whole
  • processing of the data according to the procedures established in the management system beforehand
  • regular measurement and assessment of the project's progress, and assessment of variances with schedule and budget planning
  • production of various progress reports, which are distributed to several internal and external decision-making bodies
  • identification of problem situations that could have an impact on the project's progress
  • identification of the necessary remedial actions and the means required and, as a result, mobilization of the authorities involved regarding the decisions to be made, based on the importance and urgency of the problems pinpointed
  • implementation of corrective actions and assessment of the results
  • handling of requests for changes to the scope of the work

Project follow-up and control are done in accordance with the rules
the client establishes at the beginning of the mandate.

Completion of Highway 30

Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ)

The Highway 30 completion project is a conventional public-private partnership (PPP) project, which calls for a great deal of coordination and communication among the many participants. The project involves building and rehabilitating four major sections of highway from the junction between highways A-540 and A-20 in Vaudreuil-Dorion to the Jean-Leman interchange located east of Highway 15 in Candiac.

The CIMA+ project control team is operating on site, working closely with MTQ engineers.

CIMA+ manages planning and cost control in the framework of this major project being run by the Ministère des Transports' Highway 30 office (BPA-30). In this capacity, CIMA+ implemented project management systems to provide for follow-up and control of the master schedule and budget.

Boucherville Multifunctional Centre

Ville de Boucherville

This project involved building and outfitting a multifunctional centre, including all of the outdoor recreational areas such as the retention lake, bike and walking paths, outdoor performance space, terraces, square, etc.

The building is in perfect compliance with the environmental constraints created by the existence of a retention lake.

In this mandate, CIMA+ achieved extraordinary project planning by developing and regularly updating the master engineering and construction schedule.
