Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant Process, Structural and Electrical Upgrades: Phosphorus Removal Process, Digesters 9-12 Refurbishment, and Tunnel Upgrades

Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant (ABTP) is the second largest wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Canada. CIMA+ is working with the City of Toronto on several contracts to upgrade plant processes and alleviate operations and maintenance issues including:

  • upgrades for phosphorus removal process to provide operational flexibility for storage and treatment
  • upgrades to the existing groundwater pumping station
  • assessment of the existing chemical building led to the decommissioning and construction of a new chemical building
  • modifications and improvements to existing systems and equipment affiliated with Digesters 9–12 to meet current standards and address current operation and maintenance issues
  • upgrades and modifications to Digesters 1–8 to improve operations and access to equipment
  • upgrades within digester tunnels including new raw sludge piping, concrete repairs, drainage improvements and lighting upgrades
