Okikendawt Hydroelectric Power Plant

A commitment to clean and renewable energy in partnership with Indigenous communities.

This project consisted of building a 10 MW hydroelectric power plant with two 5 MW ECOBulb™ horizontal Kaplan turbines on the French River in Ontario. CIMA+ provided the civil, structural, mechanical and electrical design for the power plant, as well as preliminary and detailed engineering for the electrical layout, protection and control, and civil and structural work for the outdoor 3.3 kV-44 kV substation. Technical support to the Hydro One Network Inc. (HONI) was also part of CIMA+’s scope of work, including protection studies (short-circuit, load flow, coordination, arc flash and harmonic with EasyPower software), as well as the engineering and follow-up of the revenue metering and telecommunication system. CIMA+ also provided client assistance for the design review of equipment provided by the general contractor and turbine/generator supplier.
