We also offer opportunities for professional growth, as demonstrated by the story of Véronik Morin, who started as an intern at the firm before being hired for a part-time, followed by a full-time, position.
Véronik Morin earned her bachelor’s degree in geological engineering from Université Laval in December 2025. Now an engineer in training (EIT), she currently works for CIMA+ in the geo-environment team, where she applies her expertise to the management of contaminated soil. But before joining the firm full-time in January 2026, Véronik completed two internships at CIMA+ within the same team: one in the summer of 2023 and one in the summer of 2024. Following her 2023 internship, she also held a part-time position at the firm while at university.
As a CIMA+ intern, Véronik had the opportunity to participate in fieldwork, compile results tables, draft various reports, compile data for drilling reports, manage soil samples and support her colleagues’ work. This active involvement in various projects enabled her to achieve her internship goals: to refine her knowledge of geo-environmental engineering and develop her professional skills within a consulting engineering environment.
Truly formative internships
Despite the team’s modest size when she arrived, the future engineer was impressed by her colleagues’ ability to carry out numerous major projects: “Although our team was small at the start of my internship, we had a lot of contracts and managed to see them through as a team,” she recalls.
Working on landmark projects, such as the bridge abutments in Québec City for the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD), coupled with the arrival of her mentor—now her team leader—Marie-Juliette Jouveau, have helped Véronik refine her work methods. What specific skill did she hone during her internships that still serves her well today? “Resourcefulness!” she said without hesitation.
A natural evolution
It was first and foremost the geo-environmental team, “a truly close-knit and motivated group”, that led the geological engineering student to stay on at CIMA+ part-time after her first internship ended in 2023. She then continued her journey with the firm, transitioning organically into her permanent role: “My current job is a continuation of my internship, in addition to taking on new responsibilities, such as coordinating subcontractors, managing supplier invoices and mentoring new interns.” The number and scope of her responsibilities have also increased, as she is now involved in all phases of a project.
CIMA+ is particularly proud of how well she has managed her time and priorities since joining the firm. She also feels she has grown significantly since her early days there: “I’m starting to understand the industry and know how to express myself professionally, both with my colleagues and with clients. I feel more accountable for the tasks assigned to me.”

Some advice
What advice would Véronik give to someone starting their first internship at CIMA+? “Never be afraid to ask anyone questions, no matter their position.” And what advice would she give herself if she could go back to the first day of her internship? “To be less stressed out about the uncertainties she would face along the way.”
Finally, what would she like future interns to know before they arrive at our firm? Her very spontaneous answer speaks volumes about her passion for her work and her personal connection to her colleagues: “That the contaminated soil team in Québec City is really cool!”
