Why did you choose engineering? What do you like about it?
I chose engineering because it offers a unique balance between creativity, scientific rigour and tangible impact on society. What I like most is the opportunity to design solutions that tangibly improve the safety and quality of life of the users of our infrastructure, whether they are pedestrians, cyclists or motorists.
For me, engineering is a way of transforming ideas into concrete solutions that serve the common good. It's a discipline that requires a deep understanding of human needs and an ability to integrate them into sustainable technical solutions.
Where does your passion for engineering come from?
My passion comes from the desire to solve complex problems while having a direct impact on the safety and sustainability of infrastructure. This passion has grown through my experience, particularly observing how well-thought-out solutions can prevent collisions and save lives.
Knowing that a design can reduce the number of collisions or improve collaboration between different road users motivates me every day.
Which projects are you most proud of and why?
It's not easy to answer this question, because every project has its share of challenges and successes. However, I am generally very proud of projects that prioritize the safety of active road users and active mobility. These projects contribute not only to public safety, but also to sustainable development, by promoting safer and more environmentally-friendly modes of transportation, which has a positive long-term impact on our communities.
By improving road safety, I help to create spaces where road users feel safe. My work helps to build more inclusive and sustainable communities, while reducing the risks to the most vulnerable road users.
How would you describe your department/sector? What is its greatest asset/strength?
Our service is distinguished above all by its human and collaborative approach. We place particular emphasis on people's well-being, encouraging a balance between professional and personal life, which nurtures a healthy and motivational working environment. This approach keeps our team motivated and innovative. We are also a multidisciplinary team, where everyone brings their own expertise to bear on the complex challenges of sustainable mobility. Our greatest strength lies in this combination of human support and diversity of expertise.
The Transport team at CIMA+ stands out for its ability to propose innovative solutions that are perfectly aligned with the specific needs of each client. We work closely with them using a human and collaborative approach in order to fully understand their challenges. By anticipating future challenges, integrating emerging technologies and adopting sustainable mobility practices, we offer effective solutions at the cutting edge of innovation.
What excites you most about your new role at CIMA+?
What excites me most about my new role at CIMA+ is the opportunity to work with a talented multidisciplinary team to develop innovative solutions. The potential for growth and innovation within CIMA+ is particularly inspiring, especially with the development and promotion of the TES software in Quebec. This tool represents a major advancement in data management and traffic and safety analysis. By centralizing existing data and optimizing its use, TES will enable significant time savings and more accurate analyses. This motivates me, because this tool supports informed decision-making and contributes directly to my mission of promoting road safety.
What do you see as the main challenges in your role this year?
This year, the main challenge will be to configure the TES software so that it precisely meets the needs of Quebec's road authorities. This includes adapting the tool to simplify traffic management and data analysis, while ensuring the smooth integration of new regulatory and technological requirements. We will also have to cope with growing demand for our services, while maintaining the excellence of our deliverables and ensuring that our team has the resources it needs to meet the challenges of a changing technology and environment.
In your opinion, what are the essential qualities of a leader in this field in 2025?
A leader must be visionary, collaborative and able to adapt quickly. They must also have solid technical expertise and be sensitive to human and environmental issues.
Collaboration and innovation are key values for me. I apply them by encouraging the exchange of ideas and constantly looking for new solutions to meet our clients' challenges.
What do you do in your downtime? What do you do to take your mind off things on the weekend?
I'm a big sports fan, and I enjoy playing sports as much as attending sporting events. I run regularly because it allows me to disconnect, keep fit and take on new challenges. In fact, I signed up for my second marathon this spring, which will motivate me to step up my training in the coming months. On weekends, I also enjoy spending time with my family, discovering new places, and I'm planning a few sports-themed trips in 2025, including going to see an NCAA football game.
Do you have any New Year’s resolutions? If so, which ones and how will they help you in your role at CIMA+?
To keep a good balance in 2025, I've made some serious and some not-so-serious resolutions:
- To run in all the streets of Villeray, Petite-Patrie and Plateau Mont-Royal: A unique challenge for my marathon training, which will allow me to discover these neighbourhoods from a different angle while staying in shape.
- Attend more sporting events: A great reason to spend some quality time with friends and family, while being inspired by the energy and teamwork of the athletes.
- Reduce the number of meetings: I want to optimize my team's time and improve productivity by reducing the number of meetings and encouraging more direct and efficient exchanges.
