CIMA+ provided a comprehensive range of services, starting with a detailed inventory and condition assessment of all system components across the 63-acre plant. This involved close coordination with key stakeholders, including plant management, IT, and security teams, to ensure the new systems would meet all operational needs. A significant part of the work was an extensive Wi-Fi and cellular site survey, leveraging advanced tools to map coverage across various challenging environments, including 20 multi-storey buildings, 14 access tunnels, and outdoor spaces. This survey supported the design of a robust Wi-Fi infrastructure, incorporating over 700 access points to facilitate VoIP and future applications. A preliminary cellular Distributed Antenna System (DAS) was designed to provide coverage in low-reception areas.
This project also encompassed network and design reviews of the IP, Voice, PA, alarm, and security systems. CIMA+’s deliverables included detailed technical memoranda, condition assessments, gap analyses, and a conceptual design that anticipates future expansions and ensures modular integration with ongoing construction. Finally, design standards were drafted for security, communications, and traffic and wayfinding to ensure a consistent plant standard for both retrofit and future expansion.
Despite the plant’s size, harsh environment, and interference challenges, CIMA+ developed a future-proof, integrated communication and security solution for HCTP, providing Toronto with a safer, more efficient treatment facility.
