Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network for the D’Autray Regional County Municipality (RCM)

Detailed engineering for the design and supervision of the construction of a new municipal fibre-optic network

The D’Autray RCM is developing a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to enable telecommunication companies to provide service to areas within its territory. The recommended approach is directed towards a GPON (gigabit passive optical network) solution. The RCM acts as a signal carrier, enabling Internet service providers to offer high-speed Internet packages (minimum 50 Mbps download).

The project has the potential to serve 3,900 households with some 565 km of fibre optics backbone (power supply), distribution to streets and roads, and final distribution from the terminal to the client (aerial and underground cables). The project also includes the design of four new telecommunication shelters across the RCM territory.
