Modifying major and aging bulk handling equipment to extend its useful life by two years

Having been subjected to years of harsh climate, an aged and corroded steel structure was compromising the functioning of a major ore conveying line. The client needed a solution to extend the useful life of the equipment by about two years.

After an options analysis, CIMA+ and the client opted to replace the tripper structure with a new conveyor section.

CIMA+ reinforced and adapted the rest of the existing conveyor line to allow for the installation of the new section. New precast concrete foundations were provided to raise the existing conveyor, the new conveyor section and a temporary telestacker.

Construction was performed during the winter, and most surrounding equipment was kept in operation.
