- Job Description
Mission
The Engineer will work on structural projects for small, medium and large institutional, commercial and residential buildings, with the assistance of qualified senior engineers. This a hybrid role that is based out of our office in Vancouver, BC.
Primary Responsibilities
- Acts as a building structure design Engineer and may be entrusted with project manager tasks, depending on their abilities and skills, in small or medium-sized projects
- Carries out studies and prepares reports, technical opinions, proposals, drawings and specifications
- Supervises the work of less experienced engineers, technicians and drafters on projects under their responsibility
- Determines construction costs and quantities, in accordance with standardized methods
- Evaluates different materials or work processes and makes appropriate recommendations
- Participates in construction administration activities
- Attends multidisciplinary technical meetings as required
- Profile
- University Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with focus on structural
- Registered (or eligible to register as) member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field
- In-depth knowledge of building structure codes and standards
- In-depth knowledge of standards and calculation methods for structural steel, reinforced concrete, wood-frame design and mass timber
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Strong skills in evaluation and structural analysis
- Experienced with structural design software, as well as the MS Office suite
