  • Job Description
  • We have an exciting opportunity for a Business and Strategy Engineering Lead - Buildings Sector, whom will be pivotal in positioning both our building sector and the firm as a whole to optimize business operations and ensure sustainable, responsible growth within the Ottawa area. Reporting directly to the Vice President of the region and working closely with P&L Managers and National Business Development Managers, the successful candidate will spearhead the development and implementation of tailored business strategies that align with the strategic priorities of the sector and the firm.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Strategy Development and Implementation: Craft and execute a district growth strategy that leverages the Ottawa Region's engineering market potential. Develop a sector visibility strategy that includes marketing initiatives and active participation in local business community events.
    • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction within the district through regular meetings during and post-mandate, adapting strategies based on the nature of the client's needs.
    • Business Intelligence: Proactively gather intelligence on opportunities, especially private projects or those not listed on public tendering systems.
    • Strategic Alliances: Establish and formalize strategic partnerships with key stakeholders (e.g., engineers, architects, contractors) to collaborate on projects in Ottawa
    • Sales Proposal Validation: Oversee and validate sales proposals, ensuring they are in line with local market conditions and realities of the district.
    • CRM Maintenance: Manage and maintain the CRM system for the district, ensuring accurate and up-to-date customer account information.
    • M&A Opportunities: Actively share potential mergers and acquisitions opportunities with the management team, contributing to the strategic growth of the company.
  • Profile
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.  Professional Engineering Licence (PEO) with minimum 12 years of experience.  A Masters degree in a related field would be an asset.  
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within the engineering or building sector, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful business strategies.
    • Strong understanding of the industry’s trends and market dynamics, particularly within Ottawa.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships.
    • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to travel within the district and occasionally nationally for business development activities.
