    The Vancouver office of CIMA Canada Inc. is currently seeking an Electrical Senior technologist qualified in project engineering of building services.

    Our team is highly collaborative and exceptionally motivated to continue to develop a fast growing section of the organization. This role will be responsible for building and leading a new electrical team within the BC Buildings market with support and collaboration from other Western Canada Buildings groups.

    You will be able to work in a hybrid mode from the Vancouver office.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop power distribution system designs, including single line diagrams, site plan power layouts, overcurrent protection, emergency power generation, lighting layouts and power distribution plans. 
    • Prepare designs, calculations, plans, specifications, contract documents for lighting, general distribution, fire alarm, communications, and security systems for building services related to municipal, industrial and transit sector applications. 
    •  Conduct field work including investigations, studies, inspections for the design and construction of electrical distribution, building services, life safety, fire alarm and communications 
    • Liaise with clients, government, regulatory authorities, and contractors 
    • Review progress and compliance of construction work with the tender documents and participate in factory and site acceptance testing for electrical and instrumentation equipment
    • Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing assets condition, and prepare site survey reports 
    • Ensure design work conforms to all applicable codes and client standards 
    • Develop design reports, specifications, proposals, project schedules, cost estimates (proposals and construction) and as-built construction drawings
  • Profile
    • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD/REVIT. Training can be provided for REVIT 
    • Understanding of basic electrical design including (but not limited to) power distribution, lighting design, controls, fire alarm, exit and emergency lighting, communications cabling infrastructure, security and access control, Canadian electrical and BC Building codes 
    • Computer savvy with skills in learning new software 
    • Working with AutoCAD, AGI32 and Bluebeam 
    • Proficient in working within a Microsoft Windows network environment and in the use of Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint, Outlook, Word, Excel and other Office 365 programs 
    • Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written) 
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working in a respectful and effective environment 
    • Strong organizational skills to plan, organize and implement work within a specified budget while meeting the project deadlines 
    • Analytical, thorough, resourceful and detail-oriented 
    • Must be responsible, a self-starter, personable and well organized 
    • Post-Secondary diploma in electrical design technology or engineering (an asset )
    • 5+ years relevant working experience in an electrical engineering environment
    • A valid BC drivers license and capable of distance driving within BC when required 

    The expected salary for this position is from $73,000.00 to $90,000.00 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
