Laval, November 3, 2016 – We are pleased to announce that CIMA+ received an Award of Excellence granted by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies (ACEC), in the Building category for the leading role it played in the construction of the Westmount Recreation Centre. The winners received their award on October 25th during the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards gala, at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa.

“We are proud to see our engineers’ creativity and know-how being recognized with such a prestigious award. This project is testament to our sense of innovation as it combines sustainability and our various complementary areas of expertise in buildings and bridge engineering,” said Ian Olechnowicz, P. Eng., Head of Services, Buildings Engineering – Structural.
The project consisted of integrating within an existing urban park, a sports and recreation complex comprised of two indoor skating rinks, outdoor swimming pools and waterpark, and community service facilities, including multipurpose rooms, a youth centre, an agora, patios, and landscaping. The structural engineering team borrowed from bridge-building methods to create the green roof of the LEED Gold certified structure. The two skating rinks were built underground and the roof is capable of supporting the weight of landscaping elements and light vehicle traffic.
