Bureau for Research and Innovation, Drummondville College

The objective of this project was to stimulate creativity and innovation in college students and staff members, by creating unique spaces that are conducive to collaboration and innovation.

This $1.3M project entailed the reconstruction of the library in order to incorporate the Bureau for Research and Innovation (BRI), which houses the college centre for expertise in gerontology. The space promotes inspiration and creativity, and includes a sensory stimulation room, a Snoezelen white room that acts as an action-research laboratory dedicated to this new approach. The library now houses a number of support centres that encourage greater synergy and centralizes a variety of resources. Collaboration is prioritized by providing more open spaces, more accessible technological tools, and optimized support for documentary research. The clean and modern design, combined with an abundance of natural light, creates a living environment where students and staff members can take advantage of areas that will inspire them as they read, relax, work and study.
