Development of a vélorue

Development of a corridor along which certain traffic rules are modified to prioritize safe bicycle travel.

The Borough of Rosemont–Petite-Patrie wishes to enhance the comfort, attractiveness and safety of its cycling facilities, particularly by installing a new type of infrastructure, namely a vélorue (bicycle-friendly road).

The services of CIMA+ were retained to conduct a thorough analysis of developing this type of cycling facility, including an assessment of the existing situation, especially with respect to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. Various scenarios were developed using cross sections, and the impacts were identified, including the reallocation of traffic volumes. The detailed design of the cycling facilities that were retained were then implemented, including drawings for pavement marking and signage work, cost estimates, etc.
