Electric heating of wind turbine blades

CIMA+ has developed a solution to reduce icing on wind turbine blades, caused by cold temperatures high above the ground, which affects the productivity of wind turbines

Wind turbines installed in Quebec are subject to cold weather conditions which result in ice formation on the blades, leading to their complete shutdown and significant production losses.

In collaboration with EDF Renouvelables, CIMA+ has developed a solution to this problem by modifying existing wind turbines to increase their electrical capacity and heating the blades. This improvement ensures a continuity of service during the winter, regardless of weather conditions.
