Electric Vehicle Charging Network and Station Design

The Government of Yukon retained CIMA+ to help plan and design their electric vehicle (EV) charging network across their highway system.

This project focused on selecting suitable EV charging station sites that provide charging services between towns and cities within Yukon.

Desktop and field visits were conducted to shortlist candidate sites. Factors included distance to adjacent stations, permafrost, power availability, and amenities.

Detailed concepts were developed for each of the seven potential sites, including electrical, structural, and civil components.

Some other sites did not have access to the utility power grid. Therefore, off-grid solutions were further explored based on solar, wind, and hydrogen/methanol fuel cell combinations.
