Increase the production capacity of a melamine panel plant

CIMA+ engineered a new processing line for melamine panels imitating real wood. The use of these textured boards fabricated by Tafisa, in Lac-Mégantic, saves an important quantity of trees.

The new production line uses nearly 120 electric motors operating with energy-recovery frequency converters. These frequency converters generate and store energy when they stop moving load during a stop-start sequence.

The new, more technologically advanced process involved the challenge of synchronizing the textured pattern of the panel with the printing of melamine-impregnated paper.

The project was carried out in accelerated mode while keeping the plant’s existing production lines in operation.
