Metrolinx Electrical Utility Crossings

Conversion of existing distribution overhead lines to underground cabling to accommodate the expansion of GO Transit.

Metrolinx was expanding the GO Transit in order to provide a faster and more frequent service on five corridors with electrified rail lines in the cities of Vaughan, Brampton, Mississauga, Barrie and Stouffville. The designs recommended by CIMA+ included the conversion of the existing Alectra distribution overhead lines to underground (UG) cabling for more than 80 rail crossing locations to meet Metrolinx’s clearance requirements.
