Water supply infrastructure in the Northern Village of Kuujjuaq

A water treatment train that meets the needs of a northern community and takes local constraints into account.

This multidisciplinary project represented an investment of $11M, $3M of which were allocated to drinking water treatment. The project consisted of upgrading the existing pumping station and the construction of a new drinking water treatment plant capable of providing a 1,123 m3/d flow rate. The selected treatment train is comprised of a granular and membrane filtration (nanofiltration), followed by UV disinfection and a dosage of sodium hypochlorite. Treated water is then stored in a 825 m3 glass-lined steel reservoir before being distributed to the community by truck.
