FAQ—SELF-IDENTIFICATION FORM

Why am I being asked to complete the self-identification form?
This form is designed to collect information on the composition of CIMA+’s workforce, to ensure compliance with government employment equity and equal opportunity programs, and to implement rigorous equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) policies and programs.

With this information, CIMA+ will be able to identify and eliminate barriers to EDI, design new measures or programs, and monitor progress towards creating a more equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace.

Can I identify with more than one group?
Yes, you can and should identify yourself in relation to all aspects of diversity covered by the form.

Why am I being asked these particular questions?
Women, visible minorities, Indigenous people and people with disabilities are designated groups under the Employment Equity Act and the Equal Employment Opportunity Program. The form does not cover all the important aspects of diversity, but these four aspects of identity are generally recognized as being affected by prejudice and discrimination.

Why were these terminologies chosen?
The definitions used in this form are taken from the definitions section of the Employment Equity Act. CIMA+ recognizes that for some identities, the terminology used is not universally accepted and continues to evolve. All comments are welcome.

What if I’m not comfortable answering these questions?
If you do not wish to provide self-identification information, you may select the “I prefer not to answer” option for each question. In order for your form to be considered completed, you must select this option for each question and record your answers. This will ensure that you comply with your obligation to complete the form.

How will my information be used?
Your information will be used for statistical analysis purposes to track the representation of designated groups (women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities) within the CIMA+ workforce. Data derived from self-identification information will always be presented in aggregate form to ensure confidentiality of the information provided. None of the information provided on this form will be used in any other way, without your explicit consent.

Who will have access to my answers?
Self-identification information is collected, used, disclosed, retained and disposed of in accordance with our privacy policy and the Privacy Act.

Access to this data is strictly limited to a few members of the organization’s staff who have the necessary training and access, on a need-to-know basis. These individuals are subject to the confidentiality obligations set out in our privacy policy and in provincial and federal legislation.

Self-identification information does not become part of your file. It will not be shared with the Talent Acquisition team, managers, or others involved in the recruitment, talent development, performance evaluation, promotion or other processes.

Will my answers have any impact on the recruitment decision?
No, your answers to the self-identification questionnaire will have no impact on the evaluation of your application or on the final decision. Those involved in the recruitment process do not have access to the information provided in the self-identification questionnaire.
