Sylvain Descombes, Technical Expert, Mining and Metals

Sylvain, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Laval University, has more than 20 years of experience in the mining field. During his prolific career, he held various senior positions, provided specialized expertise and has been in touch with all aspects of mining. Among his recent achievements, he has been actively involved in the development of a 100% electric mine project, an expertise which meets two of our objectives: the development of a strategic market and in a sustainable way!

At CIMA+, he will support projects in the mining and metals market while using his extensive network of contacts to accelerate the development of mining clients. His in-depth knowledge of the mining environment, in terms of operation, maintenance and development of infrastructures projects will be an important asset for our team.

 

Karen Flamand, Senior Project Manager, T&D Market

Graduated from Laval University in civil engineering, with a major in structures, Ms. Flamand has accumulated 12 years in the field of consulting engineering. During her career, Karen has specialized in the field of substation and power line structures. She has participated in major projects such as the implantation of a 13th unit at Shipshaw generating station, the implantation of Waconichi substation in Chibougamau, and the implantation of Charlesbourg substation in Quebec. Her technical knowledge as well as her leadership will contribute to support the growth of our Substations and Lines Structure team and develop a multidisciplinary team in the Saguenay – Lac Saint-Jean region.

 

Yves Goulet, Senior Project Manager, Industrial Electricity and Automation

Graduate in electrical engineering from the University of Sherbrooke, Yves has more than 28 years of experience, and has a very good knowledge of the industrial environment. In recent years, he has held positions in general management, operations, sales and business development. In addition, he has 15 years of experience in design, project management, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and after-sales service for automation, machinery motorization and electrical power distribution systems projects. His technical knowledge and leadership will be important assets to our team, and are confident that he will contribute to the success of CIMA+.

 

Marc Laplante, Mechanical Division Manager, Industrial Markets

Graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Sherbrooke, Marc has more than 24 years of experience in the industrial field. He began his career as a maintenance engineer, then as a multidisciplinary project manager for various engineering consulting firms. He has thus carried out numerous industrial projects in fields such as mining and metals, hydroelectricity, food and pharmaceuticals. Located in Jonquière/Arvida and having acted as director of the industrial mechanic’s department for another firm, he has an excellent knowledge of the aluminum markets (Rio Tinto Alcan and Alcoa), cement plants and mines, and a multidisciplinary vision of projects that will be an important asset to our team. His arrival will help us develop a multidisciplinary team in the Saguenay – Lac Saint-Jean region.

 

Pierre-Yves Lemelin, Project Manager, Controls and Protection for Hydro-Québec Projects

Pierre-Yves has 21 years of experience in his field of expertise. During these years, he has worked on several major projects in the field of Hydro-Quebec’s transmission substations and strategic stations. At CIMA+, he will contribute to various projects while actively participating in team and business development activities with Hydro-Québec. His technical knowledge and leadership will be important assets for the growth of our team. We are confident that he will contribute to the success of CIMA+.

 

Olivier Longpré, Senior Project Manager, Hydroelectricity and Dams, Heavy mechanical engineering

Olivier is known for his vast experience in the consulting engineering industry, specifically in the field of hydraulic works. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sherbrooke and during his 13 years’ professional experience, with RD Energy in particular, has developed a state-of-the-art expertise for the design of heavy mechanical equipment. Olivier has contributed to the success of numerous projects for Hydro-Québec, Evolugen, Nalcor Energy, RTA, Boralex, the Société des Traversiers du Québec (STQ) and the ministère de l’Environnement et de la lutte aux changements climatiques (MELCC).

 

Catherine Mailloux, Senior Project Manager, Renewable Energy

Holding a diploma in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnique de Montréal, Catherine has more than 20 years of experience and has a very good knowledge of the electrical distribution sector, particularly in the areas of performance testing, certification and design/manufacture of medium voltage switchgear. In recent years, she has been particularly involved in the development of renewable energies. She was also a key player in the implementation of the first Hydro-Québec microgrid in Lac-Mégantic, where she managed the engineering, supply and construction of the photovoltaic systems. She has also collaborated in the feasibility studies and the realization of several solar power plant projects in Quebec and abroad. In the past few years, she was invited on multiple occasions to promote solar energy to various political and commercial key players. Her technical knowledge and her leadership will be important assets for our team and CIMA+.
