Highway 410 overpasses

Tackling a railway challenge to improve traffic on the outskirts of Sherbrooke.

The extension of Highway 410 project mainly aimed at solving road congestion and traffic fluidity problems observed on the outskirts of Sherbrooke. This new 4.2 km bypass road namely required the construction of two bridges over the Central Maine & Quebec Railway tracks. In the framework of this colossal project, one of the challenges consisted of managing the works for the construction of the overpasses without disrupting rail transit schedules, and particularly the installation of 12 beams, each measuring over 43 m and weighing 68 tons.
