Niagara Falls’ Victoria Avenue Reconstruction and Streetscape

Carried out within Niagara Falls’ main tourist area, this high-profile road reconstruction project won the OPWA 2018 Public Works Project of the Year award in the Transportation category: $2M – $10M.

The work carried out by CIMA+’s multidisciplinary team greatly improved the existing urban area through the implementation of new curbs, buried utilities, decorative concrete boulevards and sidewalks. This included upgrades to street parking, new bus stops, decorative lighting and signals, in order to meet the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.

Moreover, the project involved comprehensive traffic control measures, extensive communication efforts, including business impact analysis (BIA) inputs, and phased construction under a compressed timeline to allow for full functionality and access to the businesses along the street during the area’s primary tourism season.
